Sarah Shepherd Counsellor

I have recently joined the counselling team at Island School, after previously working with students at South Island School.

I am originally from New Zealand but have spent the last twenty years living in places like Australia, different parts of the USA, Shanghai and Hong Kong. I have worked in four international schools, which has given me an appreciation for how every student has their own unique story. My own children have attended many different schools around the world, studying within the French system, GCSE and IB, so, in addition to working with students from many nationalities, I have personal experience of the social, academic and family challenges faced by students.

My goal in counselling is to help each individual to meet the challenges of teenage life in ways that work best for them. I like to provide students with a caring and non-judgemental environment, where they feel comfortable enough to share their feelings and explore ways to make positive changes. In order to better help students, I recently completed a Masters of Counselling.

I am available on Mondays and Thursdays, in room 424, and i’m looking forward to getting to know students at Island School.
